01About the conference
35 years of responsibility for nuclear safety
Established in 1991, the State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate (VATESI) is the independent authority responsible for regulating and supervising nuclear safety, radioactive waste management and nuclear security in Lithuania.
Over three and a half decades, Lithuania has moved from supervising an operating nuclear power plant to overseeing one of the most complex decommissioning projects in Europe, while a new facility across the border has raised fresh challenges. The conference invites regulators to discuss how they must evolve to remain independent, competent and trusted.
